Home Learning

Welcome to our Home Learning Zone.

During the Covid19 lockdown and partial reopening of Holywell, we recognise that different households will have different needs according to how they can each best approach home learning with their children. For this reason, we have provided 3 levels of options for parents according to the approach that they wish to take:

(Please note that approximately 2hrs of study per day is advised- but let your circumstances dictate this.)

High structure/Lower direct parent input - Print-outs needed for some lessons/activities.

Oak Academy provides a series of prescriptive online lessons and activities directed at specific subjects within their associated year groups.  It is usually led by a teacher (video) and follows a timeframe. It is possible to dip in and out of some of these if you wish to, while other lessons (particularly English) are best approached as a block of consecutive daily lessons as they build skills progressively.

Lower Structure/Some Parental input required -Print-outs needed for some lessons/activities.

BBC Bitesize provides interactive lessons, again directed at specific subjects within their associated year groups, but with the need for some discussion/explanation. Parents can pick and choose the order, and the amount of time spent on each area of learning. There are lots of interactive activities and games to reinforce and sometimes evaluate learning.

Low Structure/Parental input required - Print-outs needed for some lessons/activities.

Learning Projects have been adapted by Holywell teachers to provide a collection of activities and opportunities that can be used in a flexible order and as much depth as the parent/pupil chooses. These are what teachers are working on in school, they use aspects of bitesize, internet research, interactive activities and some worksheets (being complimented by socially distant PE and wellbeing activities in school).

Please use whatever works best for you and your child(ren). You may wish to try aspects of each. Keep an eye on your Class Blogs for more information from your class teachers. Be safe and have fun!
